Handmade Invitation (in Twilight official colors of black/red/white)
I chose to add a piano as the main cover detail, as Edward plays piano, and the glitter because vampires sparkle in the sunlight. Reference to Dr. McDreamy and Dr. McSteamy from the show Grey’s Anatomy crossed out and replaced by McSparkly (hee hee) - inspired by the vampire Edward Cullen. I wrote a message in the bottom half of the card.
I made Italian for dinner, as many of the novels center around Italy and the Volturi coven. One of my surprises was to perform a piano piece, and I played the classical piece of Claire De Lune by Debussy one of the songs written about in the Twilight novel and used in the movie (in the scene where Bella sees Edward’s bedroom for the first time and she asks him what he is listening to).
Apple Centerpiece
Black symbolized Edward’s dark period in New Moon, the apples are from the cover of Twilight, representing the forbidden fruit, the red/black stars are from the beginning chapters of Midnight Sun (book 5), and the glitter on the apples is because Vampires sparkle in the sunlight. Later before dinner, I added Mulberry tealights, since Bella is Edward’s ‘light’.
The Viewing Room Decor
Decorated theater room with matching colored stars hung from the ceiling and red, black, & white balloons. While watching the movie in the dark on Blu-ray, we lit the wall candles for a nice Twilight effect.
Twilight Trivia with Prizes
Party prizes included a Twilight DVD and a copy of Soundtrack and Score of the movie. To win a prize, one had to pass a trivia quiz about questions from the novel. For the wrapping - notice the reference to Eclipse with the frayed ribbon! Also, party favors included the Twilight Official Calendar for 2010, as well as “The Director’s Notebook”, by Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke.
