DON-8r the fundraising robot

DON-8r the fundraising robot:
DON-8r (pronounced “donator“) is a small, fund-raising robot that travels through public spaces relying upon coin donations from passers-by to keep it moving. Each donation not only helps to power DON-8r but also goes directly towards supporting a chosen charity.

Inspired by the increasingly negative attitude that many people have towards on-the-street charity workers, DON-8r raises money through encouraging playful and empathetic support from strangers and passers-by.

DON-8r has recently been wowing shoppers in Dundee, Scotland raising both money and awareness for Dundee Science Centre.

Designed to be re-branded to suit different charities, DON-8r provides a unique platform for charities to engage with members of the public in a fun and memorable manner.
The only problem is that people carry coins less and less... Via.

Twilight Cast Evacuated Due To Tsunami Warning

Breaking Dawn film production seems to have been put on pause to evacuate the Twilight cast due to tsunami warnings following the earthquake in Japan.

Shooting out in Tofino on Vancouver Island this week for La Push beach scenes, @TinselKorey tweet "They're evacuating us 4 a tsunami warning. If this … is my last my tweet. I love you. The end. Hugz," later followed by "If this is the moment. Then I've lived a good life. And I'm thankful 4 everything I've been given."

Vancouver is currently under "tsunami watch" not "warning" meaning we'll likely be experiencing high swells, with the west side of Vancouver Island most immediately hit.

More powerful swells hit the California coast early this morning, destroying boats and docks.

Please go to The Red Cross for ways to help those affected by the 8.9 quake in Japan - one of the strongest to ever be recorded.

Thanks Jenny

Kristen Stewart Birthday Project for Covenant House :)

The ladies over at Twilightish emailed in recently about a project they were creating for Kristen's birthday.

In her recent Vogue interview, Kristen said how she wants to find a way to help "teenage runaways get back on their feet" like her character Mallory in Welcome To The Rileys.

So, a bunch of sites, including TCA will be hosting this widget for you to donate whatever you can to Covenant House, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping child runaways get off the streets.

What better way to turn 21?

Celebrate (Belated) Mardi Gras With Signed Twi-Goodies by Helping Kellan Lutz & St Bernard Project!

Kellan and fellow Twi-cast have been working with the St Bernards project helping to build homes down in New Orleans.

Now, in advance of his 26th birthday on March 15th, Kellan is asking people to donate $26 to the St Bernard Project for the chance to win autographed Twilight goodies with his Get On A Float campaign:

Want a chance to win free, autographed Twilight memorabilia? Want me to send you a shout-out on twitter? Will you help a great cause?
It's Mardi Gras season in New Orleans and there are still many families whose homes were flooded by Katrina 5 1/2 years ago and have not been able to rebuild and move home. So I'm doing something about it. I'm the Grand Marshal of the St. Bernard Project’s Get on the Float campaign and am funding a family's home by donating personally and raising money from the cast and crew of Twilight.
Now I need my fans to join me too. Donate any amount to St. Bernard Project and you’ll be entered in the drawing. Grand Prize winners will get autographed Twilight memorabilia signed by me and other members of the Twilight cast.
But that’s not the only prize! Each day, I’ll send a shout-out to one donor on twitter. Just leave your twitter address in the comment section and I’ll make sure my followers know about your generous contribution.
It’s easy to donate and you’ll be contributing to a great cause. This Mardi Gras Season, Get on the Float for St. Bernard Project. We want to get at least two families back home and we can do that by raising $40,000.
Until I was in New Orleans and saw the devastation first hand I had no idea about the extent of the enduring needs. I met families who were still living in FEMA trailers or their gutted homes over five years after Katrina. The good news is that there's a solution: the St. Bernard Project can rebuild a family's home in 12 weeks for about $15,000-$20,000. They've done over 350 so far!
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!

Win Rob's Remember Me Shirt... & inhaaaaaaale the sweat (you know you would)!

A fan named Arianna gives us this shirt worn by Rob while filming Remember Me. This is the shirt and its history:
About a year ago I bought at an online auction through a shirt worn by our beloved Rob Remember Me. Apparently he used to be one of the photos that would later appear decorating the stage. The case is that Ebay bought through a shop that has a lot of credibility, such as Premiere Props. The problem is that now I have raised an issue I need to sell this item.

As you can see the link that I left, the shirt has always been framed so that its condition is excellent. And have your certificate of authenticity, completely original, since it has a raised seal. As a fan of Robert Pattinson breaks my heart to have to offer for sale this article, because, from my private collection is the jewel in the crown ... but the crisis is the crisis and I could use the little money. As I say in the ad cost me 300 euros and I put it in direct sales to 250, less if you bid. So there I leave, if you want to post this on the web and other fans really can be done with this article.
To bid on it and enter the auction, click HERE

Twilighters Fighting Anorexia - Now that's an Ashley Greene campaign I can get behind ;)

One Gossip is reporting Ashley Greene speaking out in the fight against anorexia:
Several celebrities inducing Ashley Greene and Rihanna are joining forces against anorexia.
The two stars have in fact responded harshly to attacks by Kenneth Tong, a young man through the social network Twitter promotes a kind of "organized anorexia."
Many Hollywood celebrities are not in fact go right down the claims of Tong, who through Twitter said it was unacceptable to be fat and that all women should be size zero.
Ashley Greene as he expressed his dissent, putting the words of his friend Caitie Uhlmann he "tweeted" his disgust of the controversial " anorexia organized "promoted by Tong. The actress in the series of "Twilight" has held:
"I agree (with her friend Caitie). Women should look healthy and enjoy life! And if you're a size zero to be natural because you feel that way, not because of starvation or hunger. I'm not even a size zero! Those are not standard on which to live. I promote a style of life healthy in the right way: eat well, exercise and work with what you have!"
Kenneth Tong has also attacked some celebrities such as Sophia Bush , actress of the TV series "One Tree Hill," the host of "X-Factor UK" Simon Cowell and even Rihanna. The singer of Barbados has been replicated on Twitter:Girls are dying all over the world because of people ignorant as this Mr. Kenneth Tong.
For someone so overtly in the public eye, I respect Ash for being aware of how images can have negative affect and being vocal about it!

Kenneth Tong can bite me :)

Tis The Season To Be... Twilight? Bree Tanner Sales Raise $1.5M for The Red Cross

NEW YORK, NY (December 13, 2010) – Little, Brown Books for Young Readers, a division of Hachette Book Group, and Stephenie Meyer have donated 1.5 million dollars to the American Red Cross International Response Fund from their proceeds from The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner: an Eclipse Novella. As previously announced, one dollar for each book sold in the US from the first printing would go to the American Red Cross. The donation was made today by Hachette Book Group CEO David Young and Little, Brown Books for Young Readers Publisher Megan Tingley to The American Red Cross Senior Vice President of International Services David Meltzer.
“I’m so grateful that Little, Brown, the American Red Cross, and my fans made this generous gift possible,” said Stephenie Meyer. “It’s amazing to have the opportunity to help those so greatly in need.”
“We’ve had the incredible great fortune to have one of the biggest publishing phenomenons in recent years along with The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner becoming one of the top selling titles of 2010,” said Hachette Book Group CEO David Young. “Giving back is extremely important to the company, so it is particularly gratifying to be able to share our success with an organization as worthy as The American Red Cross.”
After the devastating earthquake in Haiti on January 12th the International Response Fund (IRF) afforded the American Red Cross the ability to provide immediate funding for food and other urgently needed emergency relief items.
“The generous contribution of Little, Brown to the IRF is essential to the ability of the American Red Cross to provide help and hope for people during their darkest hours,” said David Meltzer of the American Red Cross. “After the devastating Haiti earthquake, which took the lives of more than 230,000 people, the IRF allowed us to quickly purchase, ship and distribute aid. The Red Cross is extremely grateful for the support Little, Brown is providing toward our humanitarian mission.”
In the weeks and months following the Haiti earthquake, the American Red Cross worked with the global Red Cross network and other partners to secure enough food for 1 million people for one month; provide tarpaulins to one of out every three homeless people in Port-au-Prince; and vaccinate almost 1 million children and their parents against common diseases like diphtheria, tetanus, pertusis, measles and rubella. Since the early days of the response, the Red Cross has also provided safe, drinkable water for approximately 250,000 in the capital each day.The International Response Fund allows the American Red Cross to partner with other Red Cross societies immediately following large-scale disasters by providing financial assistance and relief supplies and by deploying trained disaster relief staff. For example, in the last year the IRF has supported the American Red Cross response to the floods in Pakistan, the earthquake in Chile and the aftermath of Hurricane Tomas in the Caribbean to name just a few disasters. The IRF also supports a number of other humanitarian services around the world, including global health programs to combat HIV/AIDS, measles and malaria, disaster preparedness projects, reconnecting families separated by disaster and war, and educating American students about the humanitarian rules in war.
“This kind of donation helps us provide a depth and breadth of services which is hard to match,” said Meltzer. “Last year, the American Red Cross helped 68 million people through programs funded by the International Response Fund.”
